Target's Car Seat Trade-In Is Back by Popular Demand, This Time With a Twist!
Back by popular demand, it’s Target’s car seat trade-in event! From Sept. 9 – 22, guests can bring any expired or unwanted car seats in to most Target stores (excluding small-format stores) for recycling and receive a 20 percent off coupon valid for the purchase of a new car seat, car seat base, travel system or stroller. As a bonus, for the first time select baby home gear such as playards, high chairs, swings, rockers and bouncers are included in the coupon!
In honor of Baby Safety Month, Target will accept and recycle all types of car seats, including infant seats, convertible seats, car seat bases, harness or booster car seats and car seats that are expired or damaged. We offer a variety of car seat options, so whether baby has outgrown their current seat or it’s simply time for a new model, we’re here to help.
To make sure the old car seat materials get put to good use, we’re teaming up with Waste Management to recycle items collected during the trade in. They’ll turn the car seats into new products like pallets and plastic buckets, as well as construction materials like steel beams and carpet padding. Since the program first started in April 2016, more than 306,000 car seats—equaling more than 4.6 million pounds of materials—have been recycled!
Here’s how it works:
When you get to your local Target store, bring your used car seat to the drop-off box located near Guest Services.
The team member there will give you a 20 percent off coupon. Guests can get one coupon per seat dropped off.
While car seats can only be traded in at a Target store, the coupons picked up can be applied to both in-store and online purchases. The coupon is eligible through Oct. 6.
